Denise Lewis Patrick


Denise Lewis Patrick is the author of more than 35 books, including licensed and original work. She’s also worked as an editor and writer in both educational and mass market publishing. Her titles include board and picture books; biographies for beginning readers, middle grade fiction and historical fiction, as well as young adult fiction. Among her Work for Hire titles are A Girl Named Rosa (Scholastic), A Lesson for Martin Luther King, Jr. (Simon Spotlight), No Ordinary Sound and Never Stop Singing ((American Girl). Kirkus Reviews selected her original middle grade novel, Finding Someplace (Holt, 2015) as a Best Middle Grade Book of 2015, and her YA short story collection, A Matter Of Souls, as one of the Best Teen Books of 2014. She is also a contributor to the children’s poetry anthology, Dare to Dream…Change the World (Kane Miller, 2012) and the adult anthology Monday Nights (University of New Orleans, 2016). Patrick’s other publishers include Carolrhoda Lab, Just Us Books and Harper/Collins and Aladdin.
